MARIO POLITO SHARPENING THE FOCUS FOR NITRO CHAMPS ASSAULT

Pro Stock is sizzling with a mammoth 15 car field at this weekend’s Nitro Champs, one of the biggest field seen in some time and Mario Polito Motorsports are shaping up to the game aiming to continue their forward trajectory in the class.

“We’re rolling into Round 3 of the PDRC Championship at Sydney Dragway with momentum on our side, laser focus, and one clear goal: take everything we’ve learned and make it count where it matters most – on the track,” said Polito.

“With a stacked 15-car Pro Stock field lining up for the Gulf Oils Nitro Champs, this one’s shaping up to be a standout round. I’ll be testing both my Tremaniac engine and Danny’s SRP engine and we’ll let the data and track conditions decide which one gets the nod come race day. In this class, it’s all about making it work down low – where races are won and lost.

“My crew chief Danny Selva has been grinding non-stop in the workshop – chasing gains through cylinder head flow, combustion efficiency, and camshaft development. His engine program is ready to shine. I ran his motor back in Round 1 while we waited on parts – and now with him keen to get more laps on it, I’m more than happy to oblige. It’s a win-win.”

MPM found success at second round of the championship featuring in their first A-Final in a performance that was not without its challenges.

“We came out of Round 2 at The Bend with a best of 6.97 seconds – not quite the win, but a solid showing considering we had vacuum loss in the last two rounds of eliminations that cost us speed and ET. We managed to tune around it and still pushed through to the final, said Polito.

“Since then, I’ve stripped the engine down, corrected a few components, and with the support of Tremaniac Race Engines – especially having Aaron Tremayne in our corner – we’re in a stronger position than ever. Can’t thank him enough for the continued guidance.”

Now with the team heading to their home turf at Sydney Dragway, conditions forecasted are not dissimilar to those faced at the The Bend promising cool air and a tight surface, ideal conditions for Pro Stock.

“With the improvements we’ve made and the data in hand, we’re confident we can qualify strong and make a serious push on race day. It’s a championship round – and every point counts. I’ll be living on the practice tree this week, sharpening up to make sure I’m off the line first when it counts,” said Polito.

“Big shout-out to our awesome crew: John, Travis, Vito, and my sons Marco and Gianluca – stepping up every round and hungry for more. We’re also hoping to have our regular clutch guru Jason and his partner-in-crime Bob back with us always handy for fine-tuning.

“And of course, endless love and appreciation for my wife Monica, who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes while we chase this dream. And to our little mascot Alessia – lolly stash at the ready – bringing the good vibes trackside as always.”
