Organiser have advised of the cancellation of the Honeywell Garrett Melbourne Jamboree presented by Tuners Edge and Link ECU, originally scheduled for October 28.
In a statement from the Jamboree, they said while initial interest in the event was sufficient to support the running of the event, the requirement for nearly all interstate (QLD & NSW) competitors to purchase an ANDRA licence and log book and tech inspection had increased the cost to race this one-day event by more than $500.
“Add to that the normal event entry fee, travel & accommodation expenses. We surveyed over 350 potential competitors and the feedback from the clear majority of entrants subsequently notified about this additional expense was that it would prohibit them from being able to attend. After reviewing the feedback from our competitors it became clear the event would not be viable to run and would be unable to produce a world class show that Jamboree is renowned for.
“Jamboree prides itself on offering excellent value for money entertainment for spectators, close competition for entrants, and high quality, targeted exposure for our trade vendors and sponsors. The difficult decision to cancel the event was not taken lightly and was made in the best interest of all parties.
“For those that have already entered the event or purchased tickets you will receive a full refund in the coming week.
“We now look forward to the next instalment of the Jamboree Series as we head to Sydney Dragway on March 17th, 2018. Stay tuned to jamboree.com.au and our Facebook page for full detail and other event information.
“On behalf of the entire Jamboree team, thank you for your ongoing passionate support. We look forward to bringing you more of the best sport compact drag racing action on the planet very soon.”
