Paul Mouhayet’s 5.58 rocked the Australian Pro Slammer/Top Doorslammer world over the weekend, but it’s the sound that reveals most about this run.
Listen to the gear shifts on the car and you can tell it is not shifting like any other Slammer currently in Australia. There’s a total of five gears being pushed in the Liberty transmission behind the Proline engine, compared to the three speed that most teams use.
Moits Racing has plenty of smart people involved including US aces Billy Stocklin and Ty Tutterow, who are bringing fresh eyes to the Australian ruleset, while Mouhayet is clearly a driver at the top of his game.
Could this be the key to the amazing performance, or merely a distraction? Guess we will see what moves other teams make this season! There’s one thing for sure – slammer racing in Australia is going to be among the most competitive we have ever seen over the next few months.
