MR 10.5 NO MORE: FRANK MAMONE BACK IN BLACK COMEBACK

This article brought to you by:

It was one of the wildest drag cars in the country and the OG of the 10.5 movement, Frank Mamone’s black and blown Chevy Nova was an instant hit on tracks around the country. Now after a decade since the Nova terrorised dragstrips and timing cones, Mamone has re-taken ownership of the iconic machine and is planning his comeback.

There will be no Mr 10.5 this time around, the Nova will sit on a big tyre destined for Pro Mod competition. Since Mamone previously owned the car, it had changed hands a number of times and converted to radial racing but saw little track time in the last decade. Now with the Nova back with its rightful owner, Mamone has gone to work to refurbish the sinister black beast for a return to the track hopefully later this year.

The Nova is in the hands of Frank Velardi and V Resto Garage where it has been stripped bare, returning the body to its original badder than bad black colour, with significant chassis work also performed making it stronger and safer for the increase in performance from a new blown engine combination.

It is hoped the car will be completed for competition in Pro Mod before the end of the year, but no promises as the car will be ready when it’s ready. The Nova will also be completely legal for Top Doorslammer should Mamone take the opportunity to once again compete in the Australia’s premier all-blown sedan class.

Stay tuned for the final reveal, in the meantime you can follow the progress of Mamone Motorsport through his socials: Facebook and Instagram
