One of the stars of the Mildura Powersports festival held over the Easter weekend, the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car Show, will boast a massive 10 car, flame throwing, ground pounding line-up on a brand new racetrack.
After an extensive construction period, the new concrete drag strip will provide plenty of traction, which is going to be necessary as these 4000hp beasts make their way down the eighth mile strip.
The event will also feature the amazing ‘Nitro Sheriff’ wheelstanding funny car, one of the most popular vehicles in the Aeroflow show.
Paul Keen, President of the Sunraysia Drag Racing Association was excited to have the nitro cars at the Mildura venue.
“This is a landmark event for us, the new surface looks fantastic and to have 10 nitro funny cars here for the first event on the new track is more than we could have event imagined.
“The new surface is world class and to launch it this way is just a wonderful way for the club to be able to celebrate the hard work involved in getting it to this point,” said Keen.
The Easter Powersports weekend is a significant event of the Mildura events calendar. Easter Powersports comprises four sporting clubs who run major sporting competitions over the Easter weekend including Mildura Ski Club, Sunraysia Drag Racing Association, Timmis Speedway and Mildura Motorcycle Club.
The weekend also features a Show and Shine, which is held on Good Friday and provides a showcase of all the various vehicles competing in a vibrant and exciting atmosphere prior to their competition.
Aeroflow Series Manager Steve Bettes added “Our show isn’t just racing, it’s entertainment, if you haven’t seen the Nitro Sheriff – it’s worth the entry price alone!”
“We also have stunt bikes and much more, if you’re in the Sunraysia region, this is an event you need to lock into the diary.”
