Repairs to the surface of Swan Hill Dragway have begun with racing slated to return to the new venue in November.
Unexpected ground moved movement affected the integrity of the racing surface and the venue was closed after its opening Race For Pride event late last year. After investigation into what happened to the racing surface Swan Hill Rural City Council committed to spending the $500,000 required to grind the concrete racing surface, lay new sections of asphalt and improve track drainage.
The grinding process has now started and with take approximately seven days to re-profile the concrete from the the start line to 1000ft, the remainder of the racing surface which is asphalt will be redone to match the new profile.
All focus is for the track to ready to host Street Machine Drag Challenge in November which will see 150 cars travel to Swan Hill for competition.
