After nearly four years on the sidelines, Nino Cavallo is set to make his long-awaited return to Pro Stock racing at the upcoming Nitro Champs, marking one of the most anticipated comebacks in recent memory.

Cavallo has been absent since a major incident at the Winternationals, a turning point that put his racing career on hold. Now, after years of setbacks, rebuilds, and determination, he is ready to roll back into the staging lanes with unfinished business.
“We can’t wait to get back behind the wheel, it’s been too long between drinks,” Cavallo said.
The journey back has been anything but smooth. Initial plans to return earlier were derailed by a combination of car dissatisfaction and engine issues, forcing the team to regroup and start again.
“We should have been back a long time ago but from one thing to another it’s taken way too long,” he explained. “Long story short we had bought another car but I wasn’t happy with it. We had engine problems on the dyno so another setback, but the motor has come up better than ever so we are happy with that, and we finally got the car I wanted, a Jerry Haas Avenger.”
With a new combination underneath him, Cavallo is approaching the Nitro Champs with cautious optimism. Pre-event testing will play a crucial role, particularly with new components being trialled in the car.
“It’s nearly been four years believe it or not since our accident, way too long,” he said. “We will be testing leading up to the Nitros and if all goes good we will be going hard at it to run faster than we have with the old car.”
“Our good friend Adam Drzayich has some new struts and shocks on the car to test and a couple other things so we will have to see if all our ducks will line up and run some quick numbers.”
Despite the time away, Cavallo’s trademark competitive mindset remains firmly intact.
“Our approach to racing hasn’t changed since the accident. When you line up against the other guy in the other lane there is only one thing on your mind, win at all cost.”
Cavallo’s return is not just a personal milestone, but a reflection of the support network that has stood behind him throughout the journey back to racing.
“Massive thanks to the family and sponsors who made this comeback possible: Cavallo Drainage, Drzayich Inc, Exotic Customs, Race Radiators, Lancaster Homes, JJ Zita Stairs, Sign Crew, Ferminia Beauty, Pro Stock United Australia, and Michelle from Bright Design.”
As the Nitro Champs draws closer, Cavallo’s return adds another compelling storyline to an already stacked Pro Stock field. After years away, the hunger remains and the team will be looking to make up for lost time the moment he hits the track.
