Nitro flavour to Perth test day

A Top Fuel dragster, two nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars and two Top Fuel Motorcycles were among the vehicles greeting those few who made their way to the mid week test and tune at Perth Motorplex ahead of Washpod Nitro Max this weekend.

Mark Sheehan spent two days testing his brand new Morgan Lucas Racing-built dragster. The team made four passes all up with their final run a blower belt throwing 5.04. The car is the first canopy equipped dragster in the country and certainly looks the part.

Michael Brooks had the Nitro Madness Camaro out for the first time. Brooks seemed very comfortable at the wheel and the car was responding well with solid 60 feet times.

Not having so much fun was Frank Taylor in Andrew Minogue’s Mustang. The car buzzed the tyres at the hit on all three runs despite having it set up soft, with the team suspecting an issue with the clutch.

Terry Burnett didn’t make a full pass but the bike was going straight and true at least.

Danny Makin had a new look for his Top Fuel Motorcycle. National champion rode the bike to a 6.85 early in the day before handing the keys back to Danny, who was struggling to keep it away from the centre line.

Todd Stacey is the son of long time racer Terry Stacey and got his first drive in his dad’s Mazda RX7, making some nice launches.

Continuing the second generation theme was Daniel Biggs in the family Camira, he certainly had the burnout part sorted!

Aaron Deery couldn’t get his Top Alcohol dragster to hook up during his testing.
