The Mildura CBD has been rocked by the sounds of nitro after the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car teams served up an appetiser of the huge show they have planned for Saturday at the newly resurfaced Sunset Strip.
The main Mildura retail zones were home to a huge assortment of vehicles as a part of the Good Friday Show ‘n Shine featuring the very best the Easter Powersports weekend has to offer.
The nitro-powered drag cars took centre stage for a nitro fire up!
Series Manager Steve Bettes said, “I can’t believe how big the crowd is, there’s people everywhere!”
“This whole weekend is credit to the Mildura Council as well as all of the clubs involved who put on the events, it really is a festival of speed.”
“Starting the nitro cars as well as the flame-throwing wheelstander in front of the huge crowd was a great way to show the fans what they are in for, wait till they see them with flames as high as the roof of the cars at over 300 kilometres per hour!”
The 10 Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars will all be racing at Mildura’s Sunset Strip Saturday April 19, as well as the amazing Nitro Sheriff wheelstanding funny car.
Bettes concluded, “The nitro cars are just amazing but we have a lot of kids ask if the ‘police car’ really does wheelstands!”
The track also will also features a brand new racing surface, which is being prepared to the highest possible standard, which means the teams will be able to use the full 4000hp being produced by their supercharged nitro engines.
Qualifying starts at 11am for a huge field of 80 vehicles across all categories, with the first runs for the nitro funny cars coming at 6pm.
The crowd will also be treated to Yamaha’s crazy stuntman, Dave McKenna, hitting the track from 6.00pm to 10pm followed by a massive fireworks display.
