After a staggering all conquering Round Win in Round 5 at the Sydney Nitro Champs inApril/May 2010, Matheson has wrapped up the Australian ANDRA Pro-Series Top Bike Championship, with a dominating performance at the Winternationals held on 10th – 13thJune, over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
Matheson blitzed his competitors, qualifying with a 6.106 sec, then went on to clock two more mind blowing passes with a 6.077 and in the finals a 6.058. All passes breaking the Australian Record and significantly lower than the Willowbank Track record of 6.324. The win at the Winternationals gave Matheson and the Nitro Voodoo Team a 50% win record for the entire season and saw him compete in 5 of the 6 finals, with Matheson crashing in Round 2, then being knocked out in the semi final against Kim Stevens.
The Nitro Voodoo performance throughout the Championships has set a new benchmark in Australian Top Bike, providing performance, reliability and unparalleled consistency.Matheson said “the key to our success has been the quality of equipment, the ability of our Crew Chief Roger Bloor and the efforts of key crew members Bruce McGonnell and Graeme Turner”.“Bloor’s experience and dedication is second to none. Matheson said “Roger’s passion,enthusiasm and drive to succeed is on par with the best and compares to the World No. 1 legend Larry “Spiderman” and Steve McBride in USA. Matheson went on to say a special thanks to Larry and Steve McBride, as they gave us the opportunity to purchase the Bike prior to the beginning of the season and have been inspirational in helping us to get the bike down the track consistently fast.
Bloor’s rapport and close working relationship with the McBride’s has been unbelievable Matheson said.The Team has really worked well together and has delivered No. 1 results in a field of tough seasoned competitors.We are looking forward to the next season and are already well into our strategy forprogressing our times and results for the New Year. Matheson went on to say “the Team still has some unfinished business with five more boxes to tick in the New Year, which will re-write history in the Australian Top Bike bracket”.
