ANDRA Top Doorslammer team, O’Connor Motorsport, has invested time and resources into its amazing XM Falcon Top Doorslammer in preparation for the 2013 season.

The latest lot of developments for the carbon-bodied beauty have centred around the chassis and owner and driver, Murray O’Connor is confident that five-second passes are just around the corner.

“We have given the car a birthday in the off-season,” O’Connor smiled.

“The changes are so big it’s hard to know where to start.

“Well, there are new front struts at the front end and a brand new 4-link in the rear end.

“The entire car has been re-wired and we have also re-plumbed all of the hoses and fittings.

“All of the tinwork has also been replaced and we have added some bracing to the chassis where we felt it would give us an advantage before we gave it a new powder coat.

“We also changed the entire fuel system and every nut bolt and washer also got replaced.”

With all of the work completed in the off-season, the team will start refining the set-up as they head towards the five-second zone.

“The car is essentially brand new but we have some more plans,” smiled the affable West Aussie.

“We have a new body currently under construction and a new blower when we feel we are ready.”

One thing that won’t be going anywhere are those new black wheels, which give the Doorslammer a more sinister appearance on the track.

“It looks fast standing still,” smiled O’Connor “But it’ll look a lot faster next time we hit the track. We are ready to make some waves.”

The next event for the team will be the Goldenstates event at the Perth Motorplex.
