Grant and Debbie O’Rourke have arrived in Perth ahead of this weekend’s Goldenstates event at Perth Motorplex ready to tackle the Top Doorslammer bracket.
West Australia is the home-state of both Grant and Debbie, who now reside in Brisbane and have driven non-stop since Friday evening to arrive in Perth by Monday morning ready to prepare for this weekend’s event.
“Both Debbie and I hold truck licenses so we drove back-to-back to make sure we got here with plenty of time to prepare for what is a very big event in the national drag racing calendar,” Grant explained.
“We will be testing at Perth Motorplex on Wednesday, and of course will be taking advantage of the chance to catch up with some old mates as well.”
This is the sixth trip across the Nullarbor Plain in the OMS truck for Debbie.
“It was a great trip across, although I am not sure Grant enjoyed me playing my favourite trucking music – Pink – on the trip over,” laughed Debbie, who said her favourite stop along the way was the Caltex Truck Stop at Penong.
“Now that we are here in Perth, I can’t wait to get into the preparation for this weekend’s event.
“The Goldenstates are a great event and with Grant not having turned the tyres since early December where the weather saw play cut short, we are very keen to see what he, the OMS Slammer and the OMS crew can put together for the fans and our competitors this weekend.”
No matter what the outcome of this weekend’s event, the O’Rourke Slammer and transporter will remain in Perth following the event ready for the Westernationals – also to be held at the Perth Motorplex – across March 4-5, 2017.
