Wet and cold conditions at Sydney Dragway today was the polar opposite to yesterday’s hot and humid climate as the second day of testing ramped up ahead of this weekend’s Outlaw Nitro and APSA showcase.
There were no Outlaw Nitro cars on track today, Harold Campbell’s Insanity machine was suppose to make a lap but did not leave the pit box. The Pro Street army started to unleash their beasts however, so here are some of today’s highlights:
Quickest Pro Street pass of the day went to Sam Fenech in the JSS Racing Outlaw 10.5 Grand Am, just six weeks after a major accident the team is back on track running a 6.13 with a half track 4.02 PB.
Jeremy Callaghan had his Outlaw 10.5 Camaro cranking with a 6.51 PB.
Also in Outlaw 10.5 Nikki Hepburn went 7.12 at 200 on the button with her big block turbo Gemini and big second gear wheelstands.
Tomi Raikko man handled his little turbo Torrie to a wild 7.23 at 199mph setting himself up as a contender in the Pro Street Blown class on the weekend.
Danny Busbridge’s first full pass netted him a 7.57 with plenty still left from the Outlaw Radial Torana.
Pazzo backed his Outlaw Radial Cortina down a bunch to reach the finishline under some kind of power for low 7’s.
Another of the growing radial tyre army is Tim Cross, the newcomer has been shaking down his Cortina.
Add another in Craige Lewis, his immaculate Corty is street driven and ran into the eights easily.
Joe Gauci was earning his frequent flyer points behind the wheel of Dandy Engine’s own XW.
Rob Taylor debuted his Camaro Top Doorslammer with Pro Mod legend John Scialpi in his corner, Taylor will bide his time in Supercharged Outlaws for some seat time before stepping up to the big league.
Downer of the day came when Darren Mood found the wall in his Outlaw Radial Mustang, after recording a very very early shut off 7.3 earlier on in the day the Muzzy spun the tyres at 300ft sending the car hard left in a hurry and head on into the wall, Mood was unhurt but the front end of the Mustang sustained heavy damage.
Collin Willshire was the best of the Factory Xtreme cars with a 6.63.
Russell Mills unleashed the Funster to a 5.63 with some pre season Top Alcohol testing.
