As momentum builds for the inaugural Outlaw Nitro Funny Car extravaganza the headline LA Hooker funny car destined for Ron Capps has undergone testing at Sydney Dragway.
Under the watchful eye of Graeme Cowin, Shane Olive slipped in to the seat to shake down the ‘Hooker’ along with Peter Leahy licensing in the “Lets Boogie” Mustang and Daniel Schultz sorting out some new gear in the Charger.
After a strong half pass straight up for Olive, and aborted passes from the other two cars, gale force winds forced testing into the next day. The best run for the LA Hooker saw a 6.17 at only 199MPH when the blower snout broke off in the late part of the run.
Leahy checked off the license with consistent 6.28 and 6.23 passes, the latter at 224MPH.
The Charger of Schultz made what looked like a good 6.30 228MPH run, but the team found a leg out of the bed back in the pits.
