PAC Peformance has defeated Gas Racing in an epic Gulf Western Workshop Wars finale at Sydney Dragway.
Sydney Dragway has been hosting the Gulf Western Oil Workshop Wars concept over the past few months at Race 4 Real events. Six workshops started the series all providing customer cars to go head to head; Pac Performance, Gas Racing, CV Performance, Westend Performance, Motorsports Mechanical and Maatouk Racing.
PAC, CV, Westend and GAS won through to the semi final stage, with the final showdown throwing down between GAS and PAC in the finale.
In a crazy finish, only a single point separated the two workshops at night’s end which featured some ridiculously close racing.
Staging duels.
And even controversy that Sydney Dragway addressed with Eric Wolf in ‘TRIPLE’ for PAC Performance correctly awarded points even though he lost the race on a red light.
“It was intensely close racing, which has highlighted an issue that is a point of discussion around the red light for the PAC Performance car ‘TRIPLE’ in the third round of racing,” said Sydney Dragway. ” ‘TRIPLE’ was not awarded any round win points for this run, however as it was a run without any oil down penalties or centreline infractions, points were awarded for the ET and clean run.
“This has raised a weakness in the regulations that is not specifically covered in the event of this instance occurring.”
“There are differing views as to whether the decision made was correct or not to allow the points to stand, however we are committed to reviewing all of the rules and regulations (in close consultation with the all of the teams involved with GWO WW) to tighten any area which may be subject to interpretation. We will also be simplifying the points structure to make it more fair and equitable to the teams involved, and also to make it easier for teams and fans alike to understand.”

Gulf Western Oil also recognised the Quickest Elapsed time over the Series from John Elfes at CV Performance with a 7.591, and the highest points scoring team over the series as GAS Racing, on 382 points (a 76 point win over the next place team).
