We have not seen Gerry Parente’s name on a Pro Stock entry list since the turn of the century when the South Aussie was campaigning an Oldsmobile Cutlass in the class.
With growing work commitments and the demise of drag racing in the state back then Parente sold up and put the team into hiatus.
Fast forward a decade or so and Parente had been experiencing some East Coast Pro Stock events, with drag racing now looking to have a bright future in South Australia the family oriented team decided to put the band back together and re-enter the sport.
Parente and his sons took numerous trips to the U.S to oversee the construction of their RJ Race Cars built Camaro and engine which was being developed by Reher Morrison Race Engines.
Steve Dekkenga from SD Enterprises finished off the build with a coat of paint delivering the distinctive Parente styling before the lot was shipped back to Australia.
The team are now ready to rumble again with the best of Australian Pro Stock at the opening round of the championship in Adelaide. Gerry will still be on steering duties with the intention of running all the Pro Stock events this season.
