With the Winter Nationals just around the corner Victorian Darren Parker is getting his Jerry Haas Pontiac GXP prepared for the long haul from Melbourne to Willowbank Raceway in Queensland.

“It was very disappointing not to go beyond round 1 at the Nitro Champs,” said Parker

“As the tree was coming down I had my helmet visor fog up and that put an end to my race;”

However despite these problems, Parker is confident coming into the Winters Nationals.

“The GXP ran a new personal best of 7.444 which is under the National B/APA class record,” he said

“We also ran over the MPH record at 182.97mph showing the car is making horsepower and we’re making progress on the tune.”

The Winter Nationals is renowned for having the best air and track conditions of the season and Darren is looking forward to getting the GXP down the track in qualifying.

The gap between the Nitro’s and the Winternationals have also allowed the team to attend to other areas .

” I am taking the time to do some maintenance on the trailer and fine tuning some areas on the GXP to try and get that PB down and improve my qualifying position in the 16 car field,” Parker said.

“With everything on the car being double checked and 6 second Pro Stock racer Peter Ridgeway assisting on the tune we will be doing everything we can do to qualify in the top half of the field and then to go rounds at the Winters.”

Super Stock will be a tough field with 21 cars entered and many of them capable and willing to run under their records. All three qualifying sessions will be great for the spectators and racers alike as will eliminations once they start early on the Monday morning.

Coming into the Winter Nationals and final round of the Rocket All Stars Racing Series, Parker is currently leading the Super Stock championship, but is tied on the maximum 200 points with Jason Simpson. David Tucker and Kevin Magner are only a few points behind on 170 and 140 respectively. One of these 4 racers will take away the coveted Rocket All Stars Championship at the Winter Nationals.

Darren would like to thank the following people for their on going support of his racing efforts;
Peter Ridgeway and Arthur Sagiaris (Custom Engines).
Neil Hendry at Cryogen Industries
Nick Xerakias (ERC Fuel)
Paul Rogers Snr and Matt Ramsay.
