Paul Cannuli to debut Mustang Pro Mod at Jambo

Doorslammer racer Paul Cannuli has a new set of wheels which he will show off this weekend at the Garrett Sydney Jamboree in FuelTech USA Pro Mod.

The car is the former championship winning and record setting Pro Slammer from Moits Racing, an opportunity arose for Cannuli to purchase the car a couple years back.

“The car was purchased two years ago, however I left it at Moits Racing due to COVID, and I was also concentrating on completing the build of my family home before getting back into racing heavily,” said Cannuli.

“At the same time the Moits Mustang was advertised I was approached from a good friend who made an offer to purchase the Duster. This gave us the opportunity to purchase the the state of the art 68 Mustang from Moits Racing, and that’s where this journey began!”

The car has gone as quick as 5.58 in doorslammer trim, but Cannuli is under no illusion that there won’t be a learning curve to reach that potential again.

“The car was purchased with the previous 5.58 set up which will make the Mustang a front running car,” he said.

“Obviously with a new car you have to crawl before you walk and adapt to different procedures. But all going well after a few shake down hits, once I’m feeling comfortable, and the conditions are there, we would love to take it to its full capabilities.”

If the debut this weekend at the Sydney Jamboree goes to plan, the team will be heading to the Winternationals a for more seat time before making plans for the new racing season.

“To be honest I’m super excited about driving it, and can’t wait to get out there, it’s been a long time coming,” exclaimed Cannuli.

The Garrett Sydney Jamboree is this weekend at Sydney Dragway.
