The Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Drady to its board of directors.
Drady has been a lifetime supporter of drag racing and directly involved for the past 15 years through not only his business but also as a crew member, ANDRA steward, divisional council member and most recently, Alternate VIC Division Director.
The 45-year-old from Melbourne in Victoria not only brings this first-hand knowledge of ANDRA drag racing to the role, but also experience in high stress and time restricted environments thanks to 14 years in the medical industry.
“I started working on Super Gas cars early on, before becoming an ANDRA Gold Accredited photographer in 2011 while still working with various race teams,” Drady explains.
“I was then offered a position working on the Lee Bektash Pro Stock car. Following around the ANDRA series of the time, we secured two championships.
“For the past six years I have been working with a lot of sportsman racers, particularly around their shock and chassis set up. Through my business I get to speak to racers from all backgrounds and at all levels from Junior Dragster to Top Fuel, discussing what makes them tick and what they want out of drag racing.
“I have also worked with regional tracks and airport facilities since joining the NSW Divisional Council in 2021, for which I was also the Alternate DD. And in 2023 I became the Victoria Alternate Division Director.
“I also have some experience with the way the NHRA and PDRA operates and have been in contact with them in the past to discuss ideas which I feel can be used in Australia on a smaller scale.
“I feel like I have something new to offer the ANDRA board, and I am looking forward to working with my fellow board members.
“From my early interactions I can see there is a clear direction we are heading in and we are making the necessary steps to progress things.
“It is somewhat of a cliché, but we all race for similar reasons. There is no doubt that ANDRA has had big changes in the last 12 months in the office and on the board, and we have a huge opportunity to make a real impact in the motorsport world.
“I think it is okay to aim high, it shows we have high standards, while also admitting our mistakes if and when they occur.
“In short, I am really looking forward to being a part of the next steps for ANDRA drag racing.”
ANDRA Chair, Katie Cassar, said Drady will be a valuable member of the ANDRA Board.
“ANDRA is very pleased to welcome Paul to the Board and look forward to working with him. We are sure he will bring a unique perspective and valuable experience to help us continue to move ANDRA drag racing forward together,” ANDRA Chair, Katie Cassar, said.
“With his in-depth knowledge of our sport, existing relationships with many of our members, and his varied background, I have no doubt Paul will prove to be a very valuable addition to the ANDRA Board.”
