After a wild 2020 its finally time to step up, sit down and strap in – the Perth Motorplex 2020-21 season of wall-to-wall ‘motortainment’ is coming.
First up is the return of Formula Tech ‘Whoop Ass’ Wednesday street meets, on October 7 where drivers can race their mates, with their own car or bike, down the Perth Motorplex quarter-mile.
“We’re away a little later this year, due to the obvious COVID issues we’ve also faced, but there’s plenty of warm Wednesday nights to look forward to,” said drag racing manager Ray Treasure.
“We’re kicking off with a big one too, with Hour of Power burnouts to celebrate our return.”
Speaking of burnouts – hot on the heels of Formula Tech Whoop Ass Wednesdays, is the return of Burnout Boss, with WA’s burnout drivers having a crack at the more than $20,000 in prizemoney.
For speedway and drag racing fans, the season ahead promises to be one of the biggest ever.
Saturday, October 31 sees Powerpalooza 4, an all-in motorsport feast of speedway, drag racing and burnouts.
“Powerpalooza is the perfect way for us to celebrate a new season at Perth Motorplex and after a challenging year so far for everyone, we can’t wait,” said speedway manager Gavin Migro.
“Speedway is set to reach stratospheric heights in the summer ahead with massive events including the return of WA Sprintcar Speedweek and the Late Model Nationals.
“However it’s the AAA Metal Recycling Australian Sprintcar Championship in February that has whet everyone’s appetite!
“Of course the return of the awesome World Series Sprintcars Grand Final promises to be epic once again.”
For drag racing fans, season 2020-21 will excite, starting with the Summer Slam Series opener with the emerging powerhouse that is the supercharged Top Doorslammer brigade strutting their stuff at over 400 kilometres per hour in the heads-up series, as well as an array of various exciting drag racing categories and classes – promising constant action.
“With six Summer Slam rounds this summer, we’re pumped to see heads-up pedal to the metal action from the Doorslammers,” Treasure said.
Of course the jewel in that crown is the upcoming 50th Westernationals, with the flame throwing Top Fuel dragsters, on February 27 and 28.
Speaking of nitro, the spectacular Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars return as always in front of a huge Perth Motorplex crowd, Saturday January 2.
With the Motorvation 35 Car Show back to two days as well as the huge Good Friday Burnout King, season 2020-21 at Perth Motorplex will be a season to celebrate.
