Perth Motorplex announces management changes

Perth Motorplex has announced a change in its management team. Ray Treasure has resigned as drag racing manager, citing the workload pressures involved in running modern drag racing operations.

Treasure said he was close to both director Gary Miocevich and general manager Kevin Prendergast.

“My issue is that I am a little tired of the 24/7 workload and could do with a break right now,” he said.

“I know that I will always be involved somehow with Perth Motorplex and drag racing. We have a really good thing happening here in Perth and I want to see that continue.”

Perth Motorplex has appointed Peter Pike into the role of drag racing manager, a role that has alternated between both Ray and Peter over the past 19 years.

General Manager Kevin Prendergast thanked Ray for his good work and expected that he would be around Perth Motorplex long into the future.

“We are fortunate to have a strong and passionate team at Perth Motorplex and we have achieved some great things for drag racing over the years,” he said.

“Both Ray and Peter have been part of those successes and we are looking forward to entering a new phase of the sport and Motortainment development at Perth Motorplex with Peter adding his style to the position.”

Peter Pike said drag racing has enjoyed incredible growth since the opening of Perth Motorplex.

“I see this as a real opportunity to build on the great foundations that both I and Ray have put down since the opening in December 2000 and I wish to continue taking that growth to new levels. I’m really excited by this opportunity and know what is involved to deliver the goods. Like Ray, I love this stuff and I know that the Perth Motorplex management team shares the Motortainment vision,” he said.

Peter takes over from Ray in June and is looking forward to the challenge.

“We are all a close family in WA drag racing and that is our strength,” said Mr Prendergast.
