Major progress has been made on the Perth Motorplex drag strip replacement project, with the first lane of concrete successfully poured over last weekend.
More than 800m³ of concrete was laid across a gruelling 17-hour work period, with the pour commencing in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The milestone marks a significant step forward for the project, with work continuing as the new drag strip surface takes shape ready for racing later this year.
VenuesWest is delivering the major upgrade to the drag strip at Perth Motorplex to support the long‑term future of drag racing in Western Australia.
The project involves replacement of the existing drag strip, which has reached the end of its serviceable life.
Once complete, the new track will provide a safer, more reliable and more consistent racing surface for competitors, officials and event partners.
Construction and site establishment is scheduled to commence mid-May 2026 with works planned to be completed prior to the 2026–27 drag racing season.
