Despite being the depths of a wet and wild Perth winter – some significant changes are going on at the Perth Motorplex, including an ongoing program to expand our pit paddock area, which should make competitors participating in the vast array of events next summer, that little bit more comfortable to find the space they need.
The first step of which, is more than 12,000 square metres of freshly seeded grass, which extends the pit area from the already established ‘F’ zone – near the Competitor Entry gates.
“The proposed pit extensions are by no means complete in where we want them to eventually be, but big steps have been made, which is pleasing,” commented Motorplex General Manager – Kevin Prendergast.
Fresh grass has been seeded, including a significant planting on the other side of the Asphalt access road in the general area.
Significantly, the established ‘F’ area also has been updated to include full reticulation to assist in maintaining the area properly through the hot summer periods that also see a lot of vehicle traffic due to the number of events held at that time of year.
In terms of availability of the new Paddock zones, it is anticipated that the current areas will be suitable for vehicle traffic by some stage in November.
This will be timely, as many of the large Drag Racing events in particular at that time of year, will certainly benefit from the larger paddock area.
