PREMIAIR NULON RACING READY FOR A RIPPER RACE DAY AT WINTERNATS

PremiAir Nulon Racing heads to the final day of the 2023/2024 NDRC Top Fuel Australian Championship as the second quickest entry following the conclusion of qualifying today at Willowbank Raceway.

Queensland’s premier drag racing facility was absolutely packed to the rafters today with passionate race fans, taking in two rounds of qualifying for Top Fuel.

In the first pass, two-time champ Peter Xiberras – currently fourth in the title chase but within reach of a third placing – laid down a 3.839 second pass at 317.27mph to be third fastest, before advancing temporarily to the top spot in Q2 with a 3.800 second pass at 318.75mph, before yielding the number one position to champ leader Damien Harris by just nine thousandths of a second.

Heading into the final day of both the Winternationals and the 2023/2024 NDRC season, Xiberras was feeling upbeat.

“We love racing at Willowbank Raceway and in particular at the Winternationals, and this year is no different,” Xiberras said.

“The new track surface is fantastic, and the atmosphere here today has been absolutely incredible.

“I reckon today’s crowd would have to be really close to, if not a full sell-out, there were so many people here, and we expect tomorrow to be more of the same, it should be a ripper race day!

“The only blight on our mood is the fact that the car is still not responding in the way we want it to – with the settings we have in the car at the moment, we would have expected it to be running deeper into the‘seventies,’ so that is something we are continuing to chip away at as we try and find that magical combination.

“Having said though, to have two really strong and clean passes today and to be second quickest heading into race day sees us feeling pretty confident, and we can’t wait to see how the all-run format Sunday unfolds.

“Here’s hoping we can back up our Sydney double and make it three event wins in a row for PremiAir Nulon Racing!”

Top Fuel will be back on-track Sunday for three rounds of racing, with round one scheduled to hit the track at 10.13am ahead of round two at 12.39pm. The finals will then take place at 4.05pm. For event information, visit www.willowbank-raceway.com.auor www.ndrc.tv
