PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE’S LEARMONTH BACK TO WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Western Australian Ryan Learmonth could not turn down the opportunity to return to the state where his Pro Stock Motorcycle career began, albeit being a different venue as the brand new Dragway At The Bend takes over as the home of professional drag racing in South Australia.

“Adelaide is special to us as it’s where we debuted in Pro Stock Motorcycle in 2014 and we opened a few eyes at our first meeting,” said the 2018/2019 400 Thunder Pro Stock Motorcycle Champion.

“I love racing at the big national meetings as the fans are awesome and the racing is always tough, and that’s what I like. We couldn’t miss the opening meeting at Australia’s newest track – the facility looks great and I can’t wait to let it rip down the quarter mile.”

In fact, that championship season was the last time the Wiseguy Racing Team competed in the class. While the team don’t have the budget to track the whole NDRC series right now, be assured they are not here to make up numbers, and are keen to cause upsets once again.

“Last time we raced in Pro Bike was the 2019 Championship, which we won. COVID stopped us from traveling after that with parts shortages,” Learmonth said.

“We have some new parts on board for the weekend and can’t wait to test them out. We believe once we get the setup right we will be right up near the front end of the pack,” said Learmonth.

“The track looks great and I’m sure the traction will be on point for the meeting. Going in to the meeting we’re not focusing on winning, just trying to run hard and fast as we won’t be contesting the whole championship unless we can find a major marketing partner. But be sure to keep your eye on us as you never know what can happen when we hit the track.”

The new NDRC era has tied both sides of the country together championship-wise, rejuvenating the class. Learmonth is positive the future bodes well for more growth.

“The new NDRC deal is bringing a lot of excitement around the country with one championship and one positive way forward, which makes me really excited for the future of our sport,” said Learmonth.

“I’m hoping next season the Pro Stock Motorcycle class will make an appearance at my home track in Perth Western Australia. We now have three bikes based there and ready to go, it’s always great to race in front of your family and friends.”

The Spring Nationals this weekend at Dragway At The Bend will feature the first round of the NDRC Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship.
