Three time WA state champion and driver of the year Allen Puglia has continued his dominance of the highly competitive Super Comp category, with yet another win at the 40th annual Goldenstates at Perth Motorplex on Saturday night.
The jovial stonemason from Wanneroo drove the Nuford Probe through a seamless series of qualifying and elimination rounds to stamp the Puglia Family Racing logo on every run, despite the air conditions changing by the minute.
“We really had to be on our game this weekend,” Allen said. “The air quality was changing by the minute and of course that affects not just the engine but the track surface too and with the quality of racers and teams in the West you have to get it right to be still standing at the end.
“It’s an honour also to bag the 40th annual Goldenstates for Nuford, Big Rock Toyota and Stonecivil. They are companies with a big heritage and a big future and with my boys determined to race for the rest of their lives, it will be very cool to have the Puglia name stamped on a landmark event like this.”
The hardworking crew now have a six week break before returning to the Motorplex on Boxing Day as part of the USA Jet Dragster Challenge, but will continue their development program on both the Probe and the Mustang.
“We’ve still got a lot of work to do in this little break. There’s still a lot of ideas bouncing around in the old grey matter, so it will be nice to have the time to tinker a bit in the workshop without the pressure of preparing for an actual race meeting. But come Boxing Day, we’ll be back. Getting these wins doesn’t satisfy our appetite – it just makes us more hungry!”
