For the sixth straight year the Day Of The Drags nostalgia event at Sydney Dragway has been rain effected, here is what did happen before the wet stuff fell again.
What must be hair tearing frustration for event organiser Joseph Rodriquez, the two day event can not seem to get a break with Mother Nature. Saturday’s program was annilated by torrential rains that even forced the cancellation of the night’s rock bands, and while Sunday’s forecast was promising, a persistant late morning shower forced the cancellation of the event. Most racers managed one pass during morning qualifying that was broken up with light showers and a number of oil downs that increased frustrations, so here is a some of the brief event highlights.
Many of the big hitters never had the chance to turn a tyre, we did though get to see one of the coolest cars on the day in Darren Midson’s Austin A40.
Michelle Lynch’s Morris was not far behind, it is a wonderful site to see vehicles like these back on the track.
Wheelstand of the day went to John Rice’s little T-bucket altered.
While Shayne Ide took out the most sideways prize!
Jamie Robertson has his altered dressed for the part, fitting the old man’s body back on his altered.
Steve Biggs creates his familiar smoke show.
Not to be out done by Daniel Kuiper’s Humber.
Why not screw a hulk of a supercharger to the side of a 202.
Good to see Craig Davies get the bug back and return to the track after a break from racing.
John Kabboura coming at ya!.
Casho and his popular Anglia bread van.
Mark Ackers and his classic Kwaka.
Uh Oh, a all too familar site for Day Of The Drags, may be a date change is in order.
