A STRONG pass of 3.91/309 mph has catapulted Rapisarda Racing into the 16 th spot after the final day of qualifying for the Dollar General Summernationals at Topeka, Kansas.
The Oz team was on of the few outfits to improve on their first days performance as teams again battled high temperatures and gusty south- west winds at Heartland Park. The team delighted to make the cut after failing to qualify at their last three NHRA starts.
“We are excited to go racing on Sunday,” said team owner Santo Rapisarda. “To put in two strong runs today was a credit to the boys on the team and as an added bonus we didn’t damage any parts. We are starting to get some strong laps on the board and on Sunday we plan to step it up.”
Cory McClenathan will face NHRA powerhouse and top qualifier Antron Brown in first round of eliminations at 11am local time.
“The pressure will be on Antron who is a major contender in the championship and we have very little to loose. Tomorrow we are expecting cooler conditions after a cold front passes through Topeka tonight. We are quietly confident that we can cause an upset. There is a great feeling around the team after today and hopefully we can go rounds tomorrow.” Said Rapisarda
