The 49th annual Goldenstates at the Perth Motorplex hosting the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, Nitro Funny Car, Top Doorslammer, Top Fuel Motorcycle and Pro Alcohol, delivered plenty of exciting performances at the weekend, including five new national records.
Rewriting the record books in Perth across November 24 and 25 were:
• Chris Allen – BB/CB MPH record: 190.44mph.
• Steve Norman – B/SMA ET and MPH records: 8.264 seconds and 164.29mph
• Morice McMillin – F/C ET record: 4.802
• Sam Treasure – TA/A ET record: 5.661
For Chris Allen, the new national record came as part of a finals appearance against event winner and Decoglaze Glass Splashbacks Top Qualifier, Daniel Natalotto.
With this being only his third event in Competition Bike on his Areeba Motorsports Suzuki Tl1000r ‘Macri Special’ after years in Modified Bike on a variety of bikes, Allen said he was very happy with how his weekend had ended up.
“I am still learning the bike, so we were just coming out to do some laps,” Allen said.
“We knew the bike is certainly capable, but we haven’t really started putting any power into it yet either, so to come out and set the record and especially to smash it by 10mph sees us pretty happy!
“I am very happy with the weekend overall, to make the finals as well was really good, unfortunately I was a bit sleepy on the tree. That is something I have to work on myself, and I think once I start having some better reaction times, we will be a better chance of winning an event.
“I am really happy for me and my team with the progress we have made already, especially as we have only been on this bike for three events now. We are looking forward to slowly stepping it up and hopefully we can start travelling and having a bit of fun with it.
“I would like to say a big thanks to Michael Macri as well as Warrick, Tony, Quinten and Frank, and also to my sponsors TD Granny Flats and Modular Homes, MMIT, Biffa Bins, Jack’s Supplements, Battery World Rockingham, Burson Auto Parts Rockingham, and PCM Group.”
