The Perth Motorplex has opened its new season by turning back drag racing clock for their Nostalgia Drags event.
A massive car show and swap meet backed the ontrack action as the chrome bumper mob turned tyres in anger on the Perth Motorplex quarter mile.
Result-wise Top Gas was the feature category and Daniel Kojic took home the winner trophy in his ’67 Chev. Christine May was his opponent in her colourful Studebaker, but unfortunately a red light ended her fight at the tree.
A pair of Ford rods faced off in the Hot Rod final, that had Brett Ramsey’s ’28 version drive around Ron Crosby’s ’32 edition.
In Street Machine Dick Scaife drilled Wayne Smith to the tree and drove away for the win as Smith broke out trying to chase the Valiant down.
A red light ended the U.S. Muscle final with Andrew Lax too quick to stand on the gas pedal in his Dodge, Neil Patterson just cruised like on a Sunday drive for the win.
And finally in Oz Muscle Jake Rebrovic and Stephen Hotchkin pushed each others Valiants so hard both racers broke out. Rebrovic’s 10.994 on a 11.08 dial in was by the least amount and was handed the winner’s trophy.
