Australian Top Fuel driver Richie Crampton and American Top Fuel driver and tuner Dom Lagana were injured in an accident involving Crampton’s 57 Chev on Sunday night in Indianapolis, according to reports.
Details have begun to filter through about the crash, which occurred not far from Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. Crampton’s famous 57 Chev had been serving as a tow car for friend Jonnie Lindberg’s Top Alcohol Funny Car earlier in the weekend at the NHRA event. The street car was originally built for Drag Week competition and has earned a cult following in recent years.
According to Dragzine.com, Crampton sustained a broken hip in the accident, while Lagana’s injuries were considerably more serious. WISHTV8 in Indianapolis said deputies from the scene reported ‘life threatening injuries’ for Lagana, who has previously raced in Australia for Rapisarda Autosport International.

Steve Torrence, whose Top Fuel dragster is tuned by the Lagana family including Dom, released the following statement on Facebook:
We are asking everyone to please pray for my brother Dom Lagana. He and two others were in an awful car accident last night and is currently in critical condition. Please pray for healing as well as peace and comfort for our family.
Another passenger, Jake Sanders, was also injured and is being treated at a nearby hospital.
