Joe Gauci has been racing his trusty Cortina for near-on 30 years and now he has finally achieved his six-second goal – and it was on radials.
The Gauci ProFab Cortina was a record-setter in its single turbo cross-flow six cylinder Ford days running mid 8’s before a move to V8 territory which saw the car dominate Mod Street Blown, being undefeated for years with a twin turbo SBF.
More recently a move to radials with the rest of the cool kids, and a new Dandy Engines prepared 380ci small block Ford coupled with a pair of 88mm Garrett huffers and Fueltech ECU, Gauci has been hitting the black top hard.
It hasn’t been all smooth runnings from wheelstands to hang the f**k on crossed up passes as this video demonstrates from testing the other week.
But from that same test session Gauci cracked his first six second lap – 6.97 at 212mph.
