Torential rain has caused extensive damage to the relatively new South Coast Raceway racing surface in Portland, while the extent of the damage will not be know until the rain subsides, the track track has made comment via their Facebook page.
“Our worst nightmare has happened again. With the large amount of rain we have already had, the last thing we needed was another 55mm of rain overnight. Unfortunately the track has sustained quite a significant amount of damage last night. In fact whole of the Portland/Glenelg shire area is currently experiencing some of the worst flooding since the 1980’s. Obviously we are devastated by this and will keep everyone updated. There is not much we can do currently, even more high rainfall is expected over the next few days, and we just have to wait until we can get in there to repair the damage.
