The new 2022/2023 Australian Drag Racing Championship (ADRC) seasons for Top Doorslammer and Top Fuel Motorcycle got off to a cracking start recently at the Hidden Valley Drag Strip and plans are already well advanced for what is sure to be a thrilling round two in Alice Springs in September.
The season-opening Nitro Up North event in Darwin across June 17 and 18 was the first for the ADRC as part of the Top Fuel Racing Australia (TFRA) stable, and saw it race alongside the 2022 season finale of the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship, taken out by Peter Xiberras.
West Australia’s Kelvin Lyle and Victoria’s Robert Cassar struck the first blows in the new fight for the Top Doorslammer and Top Fuel Motorcycle honours respectively in front of a packed crowd on-site while the event was also watched by hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic race fans across Fox, Seven, Kayo and Sky NZ.
“What a fantastic start to the new ADRC season we had in Darwin,” enthused TFRA Director, Andy Lopez.
“It was fantastic to have ADRC Top Doorslammer and ADRC Top Fuel Motorcycle with us for the first time and as part of a bumper show that was enjoyed not only by a huge amount of fans at the track, but also all over the country and even internationally.
“The racing was intense; the performances were spot on; and the broadcast captured it all live and free to the delight of those who couldn’t be in Darwin trackside.
“We can’t wait to get into the rest of the ADRC season – we are just getting started!”
The teams of ADRC Top Doorslammer, ADRC Top Fuel Motorcycle and the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship are all now busy preparing to head to Alice Springs Inland Dragway as part of Red CentreNATS across September 1-2.
