Australia’s newest dragstrip has opened for business. Springmount Raceway felt the sound of rumbling engines for the first time at a members only test day to check the venue operations ahead of its official opening on March 19.
Located a hour west of Cairns near the township of Mareeba, Springmount is a full quarter mile dragstrip with quite possibly the most stunning mountain backdrop or any dragstrip in the land.
The Grand Opening event will feature a pair of Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars to give the local a taste of nitro before the whole show rocks up on August 6th.
The members only test day gave the venue a chance to work on procedures and iron out any kinks and racers to break in the new concrete.
There is also a dedicated burnout pad for those wanting to shred some steel belts.
The Grand Opening event is on March 19, and has already in excess of 100 racers entered.
