The event will mark round 10 of the 19/20/21 season which has been extended in the face of COVID-19 to not only deliver successful completion of the current competition, but also a record prize pool thanks to Summit Racing Equipment.

The South Coast 660 will host SRESS racing for the Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster, Modified Bike, Super Street, Super Sedan, Modified, Top Sportsman, Competition Bike, Super Stock, Competition, Supercharged Outlaws and Super Gas brackets.

South Coast Raceway President Andrew Smith said his team cannot wait to once again host national competition at the popular Victorian venue.

“This is truly an exciting time to be able to announce the return of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series to Portland’s South Coast Raceway,” Smith said.

“2020 has been a long and tough year for everyone, and action at our track has ground to a halt as we have dealt with the restrictions and implications of the pandemic.

“While we have been unable to race, our team has been working hard to keep the Club and the venue in the tip top shape we are known for and we cannot wait to welcome back racers from all over the country for the South Coast 660 across January 23 and 24.”

ANDRA Chief Executive Officer, Brett Stevens, said this was an important step forward for national drag racing here in Australia.

“While we have been pleased to see local events starting to surge forward with great success in a number of states in the recent months, national-level competition has been crippled amid the ongoing restrictions of the pandemic,” Stevens explained.

“After such a challenging year for our members, we are very pleased to be able to tell them as we head into the Christmas break that national-level competition with the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series will resume from January 2021 at South Coast Raceway.

“Soon, we hope to announce the rest of the new dates for the extended 19/20/21 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.

“We are working diligently around the clock with our member tracks and with authorities to ensure we can bring you an exciting conclusion to the current competition across a number of rounds in the first half of 2021.

“We hope to announce these dates in the New Year but in the meantime, we would like to thank all of our ANDRA members, our member tracks, our sponsors and our wider community for their ongoing support as we have worked through the difficulties of 2020.

“We look forward to seeing everyone at South Coast Raceway in January, and in the meantime wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

The South Coast 660 will be held at South Coast Raceway across Saturday January 23 and Sunday January 24, 2021. For further details, visit www.southcoastraceway.com.au
