The Management Committee of Willowbank Raceway is disappointed to announce the abandonment of the final day of the 2013 FUCHS Winternationals due to wet weather.
The decision was made at midday today to abandon the running of ‘finals day’ due to continuing wet weather at the track combined with the forecast for the remainder of today and tomorrow. Willowbank Raceway Manager Steve Bettes said the decision was a difficult one to make, especially after three great days of action for what is the largest championship drag racing event held outside of the United States.
“We have had three fantastic days of racing here at Willowbank Raceway, with some thrilling performances by the racers across all brackets, including the quickest pass for a new national Top Doorslammer ET record by John Zappia, the fastest speed in Pro Stock Motorcycle for a new national record by Aussie-born US resident Rhett Lougheed, a world’s best performance for a rotary vehicle in Factory Xtreme (George Rehayem) and the quickest fields ever seen in the country for the Top Doorslammer and Pro Stock brackets, and that is just to name a few!” said Bettes.
“The support shown by the fans over the last three days has been phenomenal, we really must send our thanks to everyone who has come out to Willowbank Raceway for this event and also to FUCHS and all of our other event, track and category sponsors – we have really enjoyed hosting you on-track and can’t wait to see you back here again soon!”
Points for the 2013 FUCHS Winternationals will be awarded to racers as of the final full completed runs as per the ANDRA rule book. Ticket holders for today’s proceedings will be able to use their tickets to their value at Willowbank Raceway across the next six months.
