Summit Racing Equipment has renewed its support for ANDRA drag racing, throwing its backing behind what can now be confirmed as a mammoth extended 2019/2020/2021 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series season complete with a record prize pool.
The season extension will not only ensure the successful completion of the current competition, but will also boast 50 percent extra end of season prize money, for a total prize pool of more than $100k including $10k for the prestigious John Storm Memorial thanks to Summit Racing Equipment, creating the biggest prize pool in Australian Drag Racing history.
This is the seventh consecutive year that Summit Racing Equipment has supported ANDRA Drag Racing, and in that time ‘The World’s Speed Shop’ has invested more than $1 million dollars to the benefit of ANDRA drag racers through prize money and contingency payments; series, bracket and lane sponsorships; and the supply of goods.
As well as continuing its naming rights sponsorship of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, the performance parts powerhouse has also renewed its backing for the Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster bracket for the fifth consecutive year. The partnership will allow ANDRA to continue to offer discounted licenses for Junior Dragster families.
“Summit Racing Equipment is excited to confirm our continuing support for ANDRA drag racing,” Summit Racing Equipment Motorsport and Events Manager, Jim Greenleaf, said.
“While the impacts of COVID-19 have thrown a major spanner in the works for this year’s Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series plans, we are always impressed by the passion and commitment of ANDRA and its membership base and we are excited to continue our role in supporting them on and off the track.
“The extension of the season into 2021 ensures that not only will competitors have the chance to truly compete for a coveted Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series title amidst this most challenging and unique time, but they will also have the chance to compete for a record prize pool.
“In addition to the increased end of year payouts, ANDRA’s racers will continue to benefit from exclusive discount pricing by qualifying as Summit Racing Pro Shop members. I am also excited to report that after considering customer feedback, Summit Racing has worked to reduce the cost of shipping and will continue to work in this area to ensure cost effective shipping for our Australian customers.
“We can’t wait to see what 2021 has in store and look forward to soon seeing the return of Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series events to tracks around Australia.”
ANDRA Chief Executive Officer, Brett Stevens, said he was truly thankful for the continued support of not only Summit Racing Equipment but also the wider ANDRA membership base.
“Having the ongoing partnership of a business such as Summit Racing Equipment is important for ANDRA and our membership base, and so I am very happy to be able to announce that Summit Racing Equipment will continue its partnership with the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series for a seventh year and with the Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster bracket for a fifth year,” Stevens said.
“2020 has been a year like no other, and the continued support of not only our great sponsors like Summit Racing Equipment but also our loyal membership base has been greatly appreciated as we have navigated constantly moving goal posts in trying to get both locally-based events and national-level competition up and running again.
“While local events are starting to open up again, the ongoing restrictions around borders mean that it is now clear that we will be unable to hold any national-level events before the end of the calendar year.
“As such, with the support of Summit Racing Equipment, we have decided to extend the current season into 2021 to ensure all of our competitors experience a truly competitive season and a genuine chance to fight for their respective titles.
“With record prize money on offer and a $10k prize for the John Storm Memorial Award thanks to Summit Racing Equipment, combined with the palpable hunger our competitors have to get racing again, there never has been more to race for in the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.
“Everyone at ANDRA is excited to see what our extended season will bring, and we are working around the clock to bring you an updated 2019/2020/2021 season calendar as soon as possible. In the meantime we hope you will join us in welcoming Summit Racing Equipment back once again – over the seven years they have supported us, this great company has put more than $1 million dollars into the ANDRA drag racing community which is something not seen anywhere else in Australian drag racing. Their ongoing support of our members is greatly appreciated.”
