With COVID matters out of the way, Mildura’s wildly successful Easter Powersports weekend is back next weekend as the regional city embraces and celebrates motorsport across the whole Easter weekend. Once again the Supercharged Shootout presented by Atlantic Oils at Sunset Strip will be one of the feature attractions with over 20 blown machines entered and ready to do battle.
The Powersports weekend will launch Good Friday with a monster show and shine taking over the Mildura City Heart streets, where tens of thousands of people are expected to turn up for a close look at all the motorsport facets on display, coupled with spectacular stunt shows from the Hot Wheels Stunt Team, all setting the scene for an action-packed weekend of drag racing, speedway, ski racing and arena motorcross.
The Atlantic Oils Easter Supercharged Shootout hosted by the Sunraysia Drag Racing Association kicks off with a test and tune on Friday night (Good Friday), before unleashing event proper on Saturday from 10am with qualifying, and eliminations starting at around 4pm going until late.
The event will mark the return to the track of the iconic Joe & Ben Gatt EA Falcon doorslammer – now residing under the Darryl Stephen Drag Racing Team banner – the car has received a few upgrades following an accident some eight years ago, and will be driven by Ben.
He will joined by more than twenty other blown sedans, altereds and dragsters – some which are pictured below – who will battle it out for the cash.
The supercharged cast will be supported by full fields in sportsman brackets from Top Sportsman all the way to Junior Dragster.
