Sydney Dragway has been the first of the “Big 3” involved in the breakaway professional championship series to assure sportsman racers they are planning to continue on as a venue for the ANDRA Summit Sportsman Series.
However the Summit Sportsman event(s) will not be run in conjunction with the planned marque professional events, those rather will be supported by the local track championship.
Here is the full statement from Sydney Dragway:
“Over the past few months Sydney Dragway has been developing a number of Professional Dragracing rounds giving Sydney Dragway the ability to have ownership of these events. These rounds will be run on the first weekend in May, and first weekend in November.
Questions have been raised as to where this leaves the Sportsman racers?
Sydney Dragway would like to assure both the local and interstate Sportsman racers there will remain ample Sportsman racing at Sydney Dragway.
With National Sportsman Race Teams having more rounds then ever in the Summit Championship you can be assured Sydney Dragway has been and will be committed to running the former Aeroflow and now Summit Series at our venue. We are currently working with ANDRA to support their request to accommodate a date in late March/April.
Following the ATURA NSW Track Championships Sydney Dragway local race teams will now receive an added bonus of two prestige rounds of the ATURA NSW Track Championships supporting the
Professional Series rounds in May and November. More details of the two prestige rounds will be available in the coming weeks.
Currently Sydney Dragway Management is working on next season’s ATURA NSW Track Championship calendar, allowing competitors to use these two rounds of the Pro Series. The NSW Track Championships will also be re-scheduled to reduce the challenges of racing during the winter months.
Exciting times ahead for our Sportsman Racers at Sydney Dragway
Sydney Dragway Board and Management.”
