Sydney Dragway today has announced the launch of the East Coast “Thunder Down Under” Nationals to be run under the newly established Australian Professional Drag Racing Series (APDRS).
To be held in November the event looks to replace the Australian Nationals.
The announcement reads:
“The new era sees Sydney Dragway partnered with professional (Group One) race teams nationwide in a determined effort to escalate the status of professional drag racing within and beyond the growing motorsport sector.
The Professional Drag Racing Series gives spectators and supporters a sensory experience like no other. It is one of the only professional motorsports where you literally feel the noise on the track and in the pits, as well as see the entire contest from your seat. Other activities throughout the venue will deliver an experience you’ll tell your friends about, while your entire family can also enjoy our exciting carnival atmosphere.
The East Coast Nationals at Sydney Dragway, November 7 – 8, will feature Top Fuel, Top Fuel Motorcycle, Top Alcohol, Top Doorslammer, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle. All this, with the added excitement of all your favorite Sportsman race teams will provide the perfect ingredients for the most powerful motorsport experience on the planet!”
Sydney Dragway has previously stated their marquee APDRS events would be supported by the local Atura Blacktown Track Championship Series.
The East Coast Nationals was last run in 2007 before the venue acquired the rights to the Australian Nationals.
