Graham Elliot says that his departure from Sydney Dragway is a completion of appointment that comes under amicable circumstances.
Elliot felt a lot of positive outcomes were achieved during his time at the venue.
“The Dragway is very well positioned and staffed to kick some real goals going forward,” he said. “It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to play a part in making certain changes and establishing or renewing relationships that will play into the Dragway’s sustainability for the long term.”
Elliot said he would continue to contribute time to the venue.
In an internal note sent out yesterday, Elliot hinted that the venue already has a successor in mind.
“The leadership of the past chairman Steve Dupond and present chairman Jeff Wilson has been an inspiration, while the dedication and spirit of the extraordinary staff made each day a rewarding experience,” he said.
“The partners, volunteers and members that have all reached out personally to support myself and the team played a considerable part in the progression of late, with many long term arrangements and benefits as a result.
“Although my time will conclude in one month, the organisation I am joining has kindly agreed to offer additional time, ensuring a full hand over and assistance is available to the Dragway when and if required going forward.
“It is also important to note that upon formal appointment, the Board will announce the incoming manager that was identified as part of my succession and this individual has been carefully selected to ensure the forward momentum and sustainability will be continued.”
The internal changes at Sydney Dragway have been dramatic in recent months, with track manager Ray Treasure resigning from his role in June.
Though former Willowbank manager Steve Bettes has been filling in Treasure’s role, no permanent appointment has yet been named.
