Sydney Dragway has released at statement curtailing a full move to IHRA sanction for the venue – up until this point some events were still being held under ANDRA sanction.
The statement in full reads;
“Sydney Dragway is pleased to announce that the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Australia is now the preferred sanctioning body for this world class venue located at Eastern Creek.
The Sydney Dragway Board today confirmed, “This is another step forward for our racetrack. This decision gives us greater flexibility and financial stability through further cost reductions, returning savings back into the venue and sport which allows us to confidently keep working towards the security of viable racing events at our venue for many years ahead”.
The venue has already run sanctioned events under IHRA Australia, including the regular Race for Real off street event, Grudge Kings, The 400 Thunder Series and regular Test and Tunes to name a few.
The Sydney Dragway Board would also like to announce that the remaining rounds of the 2016 ATURA Championship Series will be under the IHRA Australia sanction. To ensure a smooth transition at these events a day licence will be available to accommodate racers who hold an ANDRA licence currently. The dates for these two events are 22nd October and 19th November 2016.
