Sydney Dragway’s track replacement begins

Sydney Dragway’s multi-million dollar redevelopment, including the resurfacing of the famous quarter-mile, has begun.

Contractors Fulton Hogan naturally started by pulling up the old concrete and bitumen surface, which after 16 years of service will now be recycled (though some select pieces will be set aside to be sold to memorabilia enthusiasts).

The new surface will be all-concrete for the quarter mile and the first 100 metres of the braking area, providing a solution to the bumps many racers had issues with when slowing down.

The works are part of a wider redevelopment of the venue.

Check out some video below of the works going on at Sydney Dragway.
