The 2023/2024 NDRC Top Doorslammer season has been one for the rookies and debutant Andrew Cole will be hoping he can cash in on some of the rookie’s luck we have seen this season when he makes his debut at the Perth Motorplex’s Westernationals next weekend (March 2-3).

The Zappia family legacy is deeply intertwined with Top Doorslammer, and it’s no secret that Brodie will eventually join me in a dual Doorslammer team. There was no better place to celebrate Australia Day today than at Sydney Dragway for day one of the Saltwood @ Rosedale Australia Day Nationals.
The action-packed show was headlined by no end of spectacular drag racing performances from the 11,000hp/500kph Top Fuel racers who across their field delivered 12 three-second passes with four of those at 500kph+, and two side-by-side three performances.
The 2023 racing year at the Perth Motorplex was closed out by their Summer Slam event featuring the local Top Doorslammer and Top Bike championships plus the full allotment of sportsman track championship categories.

An already dramatic NDRC Top Doorslammer Championship season became even more so at the weekend’s Festival State Nationals with a controversial A-Final, ensuring high emotions are practically guaranteed amongst the stars of the bracket at next weekend’s Australia Day Nationals in Sydney (January 26/27).
Following an investigation into the Top Doorslammer final at yesterday’s Festival State Nationals at Dragway at The Bend, it has been determined that John Zappia committed a breach of the rules that had been originally flagged by an event official at the time, with a crew person touching the car whilst Zappia was fully staged.
The NDRC Top Doorslammer Championship will feature yet another newcomer this season as the class and new national series continues to create more exposure for racers.
The second round of the Australian Top Doorslammer Championship provided inspiring performances from new drivers as Russell Taylor won the 49th annual Goldenstates presented by Electrical Group Training, while Ronnie Palumbo scored victory in the postponed Springnationals round one final.
