After a devastating and heart-breaking crash at the Winternationals that looked to have all but destroyed his blown Pontiac, NDRC Pro Mod Championship leader Adam Tassone is wasting no time getting the Generation Y machine back on track.

Tassone entered the Winternationals leading the championship and delivered a standout qualifying performance, top qualifying the Pro Mod field with a 5.862 against the class 5.850 index. He then progressed to a tight semi-final battle with eventual event winner Lorenzo Gullotto before all hell broke loose.

Tassone was lightning on the tree with a sensational 0.009-second reaction time, but just past half track the supercharged Pontiac began to wander, ultimately resulting in one of the wildest crashes seen in the bracket – watch below.
Thankfully, all of Tassone’s safety equipment performed exactly as it should, and it was an incredible sight to see him climb from the wreck virtually unscathed. Remarkably, he was even able to attend the event presentation later that evening to collect his Top Qualifier medallion — and, despite the destruction of his race car, Tassone left the Winternationals still leading the championship.

Now the rebuild is well underway.

Tassone recently provided an update on social media, revealing the body repairs have been completed before the car heads to the chassis team for the next stage of its resurrection.
“Phase one done. Huge shoutout to Dean Borg and Nick Borg at Pro Formance Body Works and Marine for not only letting me use their facility to strip the car, but also fixing the body, all body mounts and new front end. Much appreciated. Next stop chassis repairs.”
The Generation Y Pro Mod team currently leads the 2026 NDRC Pro Mod Championship by just two points over Zoran Gajic, setting up a fascinating championship battle heading into the penultimate round at the East Coast Nationals at Sydney Dragway.

With just six weeks until the event, the clock is ticking — and with Tassone’s rebuild progressing well, hopefully the distinctive blown Pontiac will be back in the staging lanes ready to take on what is shaping up to be a cracking Pro Mod field.
