Team Bray Racing will get their 2013 off to a high-octane start when the popular Summernats festival hits Canberra’s Exhibition Park for the 26th time across 3-6 January 2013.
The annual Summernats festival is Australia’s largest celebration of the modified car lifestyle and each year attracts up to 100,000 fans across its four days.
Victor and Ben Bray will be joined by Victor’s’57 Chevy Burnout Car and a range of rare road cars including Little Mick’s hand-built ‘bubble car’, Victor’s well-known TUF ’58 Low Rider and Michael ‘Gup’ Gilbert’s 727CI big block-powered street Commodore.
Victor said he couldn’t wait to get back to the nation’s capital to kick off another action-packed year for the team.
“I was at the very first Summernats and I didn’t miss one until 2002 when racing commitments forced me to stay away for four years,” said Victor Bray.
“I am making up for lost time now however – in the early days I was known for fire-breathing burnouts and nothing has changed, both Ben and I are looking forward to reliving the good times and putting on a great burnout show for the fans.
“While our schedule is still being confirmed, Team Bray Racing is looking at perhaps taking some fans for rides in our burnout cars, so if you want to experience a few thousand horsepower you better make sure you are in Canberra come the first weekend of January!
“When we aren’t in action on the pad we will be at the Team Bray compound – part of Sidchrome Performance Park – along with our burnout machines and a range of our other cars including Little Mick’s very cool hand-built bubble car, as well as the new Sidchrone Victor and Ben Bray commemorative tool box range which will be launched at the event.
“These Victor and Ben Bray tool boxes come in a range of sizes and I am pretty honoured and excited to see them launched at Summernats!”
Ben said the annual festival was a great opportunity not just for burnouts and checking out great cars, but for catching up with old friends as well.
“Summernats is the one event of the year where a lot of the racers and car builders are all in the same place at the same time, so it is a great opportunity to catch up and swap notes with guys the Team Bray Racing outfit may not have seen for a while,” said Ben Bray.
“With a new burnout pad and a new grandstand with better seating – the stage is well and truly set for some great burnout action, kicking off with the pad being christened on Friday with a Guinness World Record attempt!”
On Friday, to support the National Tobacco Campaign, the Australian Government is sponsoring for the Street Machine Summernats 26 a Guinness World Record burnout attempt, where the event will attempt to set a new world record for the largest simultaneous burnout with a target minimum of 50 cars to be involved. The attempt will take place on the burnout pad at Exhibition Park, Canberra, at 11.00am on Friday 4 January 2013.
