One month ago ANDRA Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Scott White enjoyed one of his greatest drag racing wins since joining the professional Group One category in 1991.
Apart from the round win at Adelaide International Raceway, White’s confidence was further boosted with a new PB time of 7.328 seconds, plus the first time defeat of number two point’s racer Maurice Allen in the second round of competition.
“As you could expect I’m very keen to head into Melbourne for the Fuchs Nitro Thunder. I haven’t really stopped smiling since my win at the Lady Daly Springnationals in September and I’m hoping it will continue this weekend.
“A couple of good things have come our way which is very nice and very timely,” said White. “That win we had in Adelaide last month saw our Facebook likes go from 200 to 300 and we’ve received some assistance in the form of some complimentary accommodation at a hotel for which I’m very grateful. Sure beats sleeping in my van.
“Then I had a fella from WA ring me up and offer to help crew which is the third person I haven’t been able to afford for a while. So we are looking pretty good even before the race has started. In addition we have had some interest from a potential sponsor in Sydney and feel that the time is right and we are in there with a shot. Stat wise it is possible to take out the championship, although a lot of ducks would have to line up to do so,” grinned White.
“The motor is happy and healthy so it would be great to get a few more round wins under our belt and hopefully finish out the season in the top three or higher.
“Of course Sydney is the goal because it comes with an ANDRA Gold Christmas tree trophy. That has something I have always chased and that’s what I want.
“The bike is in good shape. I did all the necessary maintained on the AMPAC Suzuki before I left Adelaide so that will give’s me a clear mind coming into Melbourne,” finished White
This weekend’s Fuchs Nitro Thunder event sees ANDRA Championship drag racing return to Melbourne for the first time since 2001.
White enters Calder Park sitting in the number three points position. This is the penultimate round for Pro Stock Motorcycle, with the 2012/13 ANDRA season concluding at Sydney Dragway’s Australian Nationals on November 1-3.
