The Shell V-Power Motorsport Park has appointed Daniel Melrose as the Manager of The Dragway at The Bend.
Daniel will return to Australia to take on the key role having currently held senior roles at one of Europe’s premier Drag Racing facilities, Santa Pod Raceway. Daniel’s experience will be critical to the operating of the new world-class $35 million dollar Dragway having also acted as race director for key events at Santa Pod, and previously worked for Sydney Dragway before his move to Santa Pod.
“I’m extremely excited to join The Bend and play a key role in developing Australia’s newest Drag Racing facility,” said Melrose.
“I look forward to leading the charge in delivering a world-class service for spectators and competitors as Drag Racing continues to grow in South Australia.”
Daniel will transition to his role in December before starting as The Manager in February 2024.
Additionally, The Bend team has been bolstered by the appointment of Shane Collins as the interim Dragway Manager before commencing as The Bend’s Commercial Manager. Shane boasts over 10 years experience in the sports and entertainment industry specialising in horse racing and motorsport.
Steve Burgess also enters the fray with a focus on looking after the frequent activity at The Dragway as the Day Activity Coordinator. Steve has impressed as a senior track official since the facility opened in September.

The Dragway at The Bend will host the Festival State Nationals, headlined by Nitro Funny Cars on January 12-14.
