More great track upgrade news with the Steel City Drag Club completing the last stage of the racing surface upgrade at Whyalla’s Steel City Raceway. Unlike many other race tracks in the country that have been fortunate enough to gain government funding, the club has self funded the track upgrades to come in line with ANDRA National Championship standards.
A dedicated group of workers have been removing the last original section of the track to be replaced with bitumen breaking area giving the Steel City Drag Club a full 1/8th mile concrete track with walls ready for National Championship events.
The first test for the new surface will be an epic supercharged extravaganza – the Steel City Supercharged Shootout is being held on Sunday 4th October, 2015 and features over 20 blown cars plus AUS vs USA jet cars, the fire throwing action of Difilippo Racing’s two jet cars with support categories featuring super sedan, modified, modified bike and junior dragster.
The ANDRA Summit Sportsman Series will roll into town in March next as well.
